Jelena Rozga

Jelena Rozga is a Croatian pop singer born in Split. At the age of six the decided to become a ballet dancer and after finishing primary school, she went to Zagreb to start her education in a ballet school.

 
She quickly became known as the best dancer of her generation, performing on stage alongside more experienced dancers. Her frame spread and soon she was receiving invitations to dance in festivals as far a field as Osaka and to study ballet at the Scala Academy in Milan. As the first student in the former Yugoslavia to get a scholarship for a ballet school, marvelous achievements were destined for Jelena.
 
However, Jelena's heart lay elsewhere in a dream to sing with the most popular band in the country - Magazin. After sending her picture and a demo, she was soon recruited by the other band members and at just 18 years of age Jelena started her new career as a lead singer in Magazin. Jelena's live performances took her across Europe, from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, to Switzerland, Fance, Germany, Austria, Hungary. Shows in the USA and Canada allowed her to show her talent and charisma to the people of North America.
In 2006, Jelena struck out in a new direction deciding to go at it alone and begin a solo career.
 
Both in 2008 and 2009, Jelena was awarded the Grand Prix award  at the Split Festival for having the most listened songs. In 2008 she received the award for "Gospe Moja," and in 2009, she received the award for "Daj Sta Das." Jelena is now preparing her second solo album.
